8. Lifting the Cross

Of all professing Christians, Seventh-day Adventists should be foremost in uplifting
Christ before the world. The proclamation of the third angel's message calls for the
presentation of the Sabbath truth. This truth, with others included in the message, is to
be proclaimed; but the great center of attraction, Christ Jesus, must not be left out. It is
at the cross of Christ that mercy and truth meet together, and righteousness and peace
kiss each other. The sinner must be led to look to Calvary; with the simple faith of a little
child he must trust in the merits of the Saviour, accepting His righteousness, believing in
His mercy. {GW 156.2}

Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Hab 3:4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and
there was the hiding of his power.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us
which are saved it is the power of God.

Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
The sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great truth around which all other
truths cluster. In order to be rightly understood and appreciated, every truth in the Word
of God, from Genesis to Revelation, must be studied in the light which streams from the
cross of Calvary, and in connection with the wondrous, central truth of the Saviourʼs
atonement. Those who study the Redeemerʼs wonderful sacrifice grow in grace and
knowledge. {OFC 33.1}

I present before you the great, grand monument of mercy and regeneration, salvation
and redemption,—the Son of God uplifted on the cross of Calvary. This is to be the
theme of every discourse. {OFC 33.2}
